For our first night in South Africa, we stayed in the Lesedi Village. The Lesedi Village is located in Gauteng, South Africa. It is the home of the Zulu, Xhosa, Pedi, Ndebele, and Basotho people. Lesedi is a Sotho word which means, "light," because their culture is the light of the nation and whoever enters can see the light. During our stay, we had the opportunity to experience their individual cultures through their foods, their dances, their stories and just by staying alongside them in their homes. This place was beautiful and filled with many hand painted buildings and sculptures built by many of the tribes; it is in fact a colorful nation.

This is the Sotho Village that a few of my classmates stayed in.

Two of the three female dancers. #WhoRunTheWorld? GIRLS!

The young lady is one of the dancers and she also made those mats she is sitting on. He is a part of one of the tribes and was our tour guide.

These are cooked worms. They tasted very salty and many people feel as though they taste like sunflower seeds.
