South Africa's Culture Today

Although Africa went through a lot of hard times, and still are, they are a developing country that hopefully in the near future we will see more progress than we already have. Many people are excited about what the future holds and they only want to look ahead and never turn back. They have an AWESOME culture from their food, nightlife, dances, work ethic, love they have one another in the communities and so much more. A lot of South African citizens are excited about the freedom they have been given. We were able to experience their freedom and culture during our stay and I would love to go back.

Here is a famous restaurant in Soweto amongst the townships and where Nelson Mandela home with his wife still remains.

I am located on Robben Island where Nelson Mandela and a few others were held for many years. Many were falsely accused of the smallest things such as not walking with their I.D. The jail cell still remains today and former inmates as well as guards are living here.

We are on a safari. We were able to see Elephants, Zebra, Giraffes, Rhino and a few other animals.

Lelapa Restaurant is a restaurant located in one of the townships in Cape town. The lady cooks dinner for tourists and for those living in her community. She began building this restaurant in her home after realizing that the couple she worked for went and purchased wine and cheese for 45 Rand. She then knew she was worth more than wine and cheese.

Beef stew and amazing sweet potatoes we ate while staying in the Safari park.

Here we are at the Lesedi village where the women are in the process of making more goods.

We are at the market and their famous lines are "Sista from anotha motha," or "Mr. from anotha fatha." This was their way of trying to form that connection with you in order for you to buy from them.
